Looking down an apartment hallway, the blank bedroom door is brought to life with a trompe l'oeil view that turns the door into a gateway to a luxuriant garden.  To see beyond this door to see how mural art has brought ancient Pompei to the bedroom, CLICK HERE.

The blank space of an entryway is transformed by the trompe l'oeil 'window on a view'. Instead of being greeted by an empty wall, the visitor is welcomed by a spectacular view over nearby Killiney Bay, complete with the 'owner' of the house, a brown Burmese cat.

This is a charming technique that could give new life to any uninteresting space, in apartment, house or office. The addition of curtain rail and curtains lends a 'reality' to the scene, and enables the owner to have a window on a favourite view to cheer their day, be that scene one of the area in which they live, or a special place visited far across the globe.

A small, dark corner becomes a little corner of ancient Eygpt

An informal floral setting with birds and butterflies, personalised with the owner's cat, makes a special entrance to a teenager's bedroom.

A narrow, blank space makes the perfect 'illusion' doorway to a moonlit scene. Painted details of the 'door' and the table, wine bottle and crystal goblets, bring the illusion of the exotic setting to life.

A long dark passageway in an old house provides the perfect setting for a total fantasy - The Grand Canal of Venice, complete with painted flag stone floor, black-and-white mosaic painted step, old wood painted doors, illusion glass roof and mythical sky scene. The illusion of the imagery is given a touch of reality with a real Venetian mask mounted in a painted wall niche.
