PAINTINGS IN MINIATURE

These are individually handpainted in acrylic gouache on wood or in certain cases bone or alternative (vegetable) 'ivory'. Ann offers a wide variety of original designs on English Midland lace bobbins, Gimp bobbins, Tatting shuttles (click HERE for a few examples of tatting shuttles), Needlecases, Fansticks, also Divider pins in the shape of period dressed dolls. Designs may be ordered on any of the items. Types of bobbins supplied are normally English Midland, in wood or bone. Bone is Irish cow bone, bobbins turned by Stuart Johnson. Continental style bobbins supplied on request (wood only) for €5 extra to list prices. Honiton bobbins also on request,€5 extra each, wood or bone

Books

Ann has been teaching lacemaking and designing original patterns for bobbin lace for many years. She offers a wide range of patterns in folio collection form with detailed working instructions, ideal for the lacemaker who cannot attend classes regularly. These publications are suitable for lacemakers of all levels of experience, including the complete beginner. Two folios, 'Simple & Pretty Torchon and Bedfordshire' and 'Irish Celtic Lace for Beginners' offer a variety of interesting projects ideal for starting in lacemaking.

For those with some experience Ann offers selections of designs in a number of techniques - Torchon, Bedfordshire, and Bucks Point collections, and in Enchanted Lace II, Bobbin Lace Miniatures designs for all the above are featured. A variety of techniques is covered in Enchanted Lace III, Lace for Slippers, and Irish fan designs in An Craobh Nua.

All the books are produced in an easy-to-use spiral bound format, with book design and layout by Gillian Lovegrove.

Spangles

All spangles completed with small gold/silver plate beads and Filigree bead cups. Semi-precious stones, Crystal and Mother of Pearl. All spangles are priced at €6 each.

Irish Collection

A series of designs reflecting Ireland and its culture. Ann portrays images
of the Irish countryside such as thatched cottages and round towers, classic Irish symbols such as the Tara Brooch, ancient Dolmen stones and Celtic carved stone crosses.

Celebration of Irish Dance Collection

A variety of designs including dancers in traditional Irish Dance costume,
Irish Dance shoes, and tribute images recreating the memories from live
performances Ann has attended of Michael Flatley's great dance shows, Lord
of the Dance and Feet of Flames.

Images of the instruments most associated with Irish traditional music.

Cats Collection

Ann has always enjoyed painting animals, and as a cat lover herself, the felines are a favourite subject. There is always a small selection in stock, but if you wish, you may order a custom painted Pet Portrait. Personalised pets portraits from owner's photographs (pets name may be included in the design) are available on request.

Fantasy Collection

We all love fantasy! Here find fun designs of fairies, dragons and
unicorns, and the occasional butterfly - as the legend says 'When we are
little, we see fairies, when we grow up, we see butterflies!'

Lacemaker Collection

There are many famous paintings of lacemakers in the world's museums. Here
are Ann's interpretation of a few you may recognise. Not intended as
reproductions, just variations on a theme.
