All About Ann... |
|
Ann was born and raised in Dublin, with a love of traditional Irish hand-crafted creations. She has a degree in Art History from Trinity College Dublin, and post graduate experience in Interior Design. This led to her interest in Irish Bobbin lace, the oldest form of lace known in Ireland, which had not been taught here for over fifty years when she began. Another type of Irish handwork dear to her heart, is Mountmellick, that richly encrusted whitework embroidery indigenous to Ireland, which has been in her family for five generations. This wealth of family tradition dating back to the 1820's has provided a source of endless inspiration. Ann teaches several groups of lacemakers weekly. She also gives weekend workshops both and home and abroad, travels to lacemakers fairs, conventions and other related events and offers her lace designs and miniature painted tools by mail order.
